Butterflies jumbled up inside my stomach. Waiting for the call and not knowing the result behind it was like being in a horror film. The not knowing when the scary creature was going to pop out. That was like the call I was waiting for.
Thinking to myself “This can either be a good day or a not so good day”.
My five-minute interview could have gone two ways. The company saw that I would be a good worker and only needed a 5-minute interview, or they knew I was not cut out for this sort of job. The bakery is no piece of cake…. Get it! There will be tough times with orders and preparing the desserts and food but I was anxious for my first real job. A newspaper girl is not really a full-time gig. Sweat was pouring off my forehead and my shirt was starting to get moist, my palms were sweaty and no matter what I did could not think about anything else. Every time the phone rang I had a panic attack and of course the day I was expecting a call the phone rang 20 times. Not even my nana’s pasta could take me out of this phase and distract me from the call.

Still waiting and by this time I knew they forgot about me. Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock is the only sound that I could hear. Actually, I heard some pretty suspicious noises from my stomach because I have not eaten all day long.
Its quarter to four and “Ring, Ring, Ring” “that has to be it”.
Gingerly I rose from my couch and inch over towards the home phone. I slowly bring up my hand over towards the phone. My hand was shaking like maracas. I lunged towards the phone,
“Hello” I said. “Is this Hannah”, “yes” I replied. “We wanted to call and congratulate you on being apart of the Farmland family you start next week, I will contact you with more information, have a good night”. “Clank” Oh my god what just happened. “I got the job”!!
I screamed this around my house for at least 20 minutes. There was a ceiling of excitement that I could reach. My cheekbones were burning and I think I ripped the phone off the wall by excitement from the call. I know that I would sweat, get burnt, have angry customers but I was ready for the challenge ahead. Sometimes you have to go for things in life and there can be a light at the end of the tunnel. Putting yourself out there for things you want can make your life better and sometimes with more money in your bank account.
